Peritoneal Dialysis

Wednesday, May 18, 2022

While there are several treatment options available, did you know that Fort Smith Regional Dialysis Center offers Home Therapy as a kidney failure treatment option?   Specifically, Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), which allows a person to perform dialysis at home, either with or without a partner, freeing up valuable time that might otherwise have to be spent in-clinic.

According to the United States Renal Data System 2020 Annual Data Report

Nearly 786,000 people in the United States are living with ESKD, also known as end-stage renal disease (ESRD), with 71% on dialysis and 29% with a kidney transplant.

Our Fort Smith staff of PD Nurses are fully qualified to assist with education and training.  Before you know it, your daily activities, work and travel will become more manageable. To find out if you are a candidate for PD, discuss with your nephrologist.  To find out more detailed information about PD, ask to speak with a PD Nurse.
